I am sure you have all heard of the iPhone, it is thought that it is the most successful phone of all time.  At Apple’s KeyNote event Steve Jobs said that they are the largest mobile hand held company in the world, bigger than Nokia, Sony and Samsung.  Now that is pretty big.

Apple’s achievements don’t stop there; they sell just under 100,000 models a week.  This is huge; I’m sure they sell more, as these figures are from before the 3GS was released.

The reasons I believe it is so successful are these:

The iPhone is super quick compared to another phone of its class, of which there aren’t many.

The iPhone is a touch screen revolution that has changed the way we think of the mobile phone and we can only imagine a good phone being touch screen.  The OS is so simple to control and move around in.  People want something simple or else they wouldn’t be interested.  The design of the iPhone is great.  The 3GS looks sweet, and with the option to have it white or black makes it even better.  I know a lot of people who are lucky and proud owners of the iPhone and I wish I had one.  I can see myself buying one this year.  Also buying from Apple is a fashion statement so a lot of customers are just interested in the brand.  Don’t get me wrong; the iPhone is not cheap but I have said this for a while about Apple: what you pay for is what you get.  The App Store makes it even more  superb, 140,000 apps available  to download by a single touch.  This is fantastic, you can tweet, check on YouTube whenever you want, it all just makes your life so simple.

Like everything great it has some bad sides.  The iPhone has very few bad things, as they like to update these issues.  The big one for me is the camera and video camera.  I feel that they are a little weak compared to rivals.  Multitasking is only an option if you jailbreak.  There are not many service providers so you aren’t going to get a good deal on a contract.

But overall this is a fantastic phone that Apple has got in their pocket!
