Three days ago, I jailbroke my iPhone 3GS and so far, I have been loving the jailbreak. Jailbreaking allows you to have themes, multitasking, tweaks, tethering, and phone unlocking. When you  JailBreak your iDevice, there are two essential apps that you need to get: Cydia (which is the App Store in the Jailbreaking world) and Winterboard (Theme Manager) The reason why I jailbroke my iPhone was because of customization. As many of you guys know, the iPhone OS is extremely lacking in customization. Multitasking is HUGE plus when you jailbreak your iPod touch or iPhone. With all those awesome hacks, there are some sacrifices/downsides to Jailbreaking. The first downside is that the battery will drain quicker due to the background apps. Second, slower performance on some devices. If you have the first two generations of the iPod touch or iPhone, I wouldn’t recommend the jailbreaking at all because the performance will dramatically decrease. And my biggest con is that that  it will VOID YOUR WARRANTY. If you know that you don’t take care of your tech, don’t bother jailbreaking it. If you break your device, Apple won’t fix it at all. Overall, if you really want the themes, multitasking, tweaks, tethering, free App Downloads, and phone unlocking, then go for it!

yeah look, jailbreak is really cool, wathever you wanna say, but it slows down so much the device, mi ipod touch 2g it slowed down so much, and it starded like freezing, and one time it wouldn't open cydia, so i restored it, then do the jailbreak again, so i was happy about the jailbreak. Then i turned it off, and it would't turn back on, it like turn off, and after like 10 seconds ti will just turn off, and itunes won't recognized it. So finally i got it to work, after watching a lot of videos on youtube, i got it to restore, and never try the jailbreak again, as simple as that, i almost loose my ipod touch bunch of times, but the last one, just sucked. so be careful of what choice you make. because an ipod touch is a lot, is not just a piece of cr`p that needs to be jailbroken, if you like your ipod touch, and use it as much as i always do, jailbreak is not exactly an option.

I jailbroke my iPod touch the day after I got it, and I couldn't be happier. If I didn't jailbreak it, I wouldn't be able to put the city bus schedule on it, and I wouldn't have customizations such as Backgrounder and SBSettings. My iPod touch is a tool, not a toy; thus, I need it to give me certain features, haha.

Teterman 5 pts

My brother jailbroke his iPod and shut it off and it won't turn back on

Teterman Hold down the power and home button for about 15 seconds and let go... that might fix it. If not, your brother probably temporarily 'bricked' the device. There are ways to fix it, but we won't help with that.

I might try jail break lolz
