I found out about this Ubuntu operating system from Nuno Ledo. I downloaded it then burned it onto a Live CD. I love it. I have never been a big fan of linux, but this is the best experience I’ve ever had with it. The effects from Compiz are wonderful. I have never been able to enable the effects in past experiences I’ve had with different Linux OS’ due to graphics driver issues. This distro is mainly for multimedia users, but can be for casual Linux users as well. You can record audio, create songs, edit photos, watch video, etc.. It comes with hundreds of different programs already built in.

However, I do have one problem with it:

There is no Ubuntu Software Center. I have had trouble downloading flash, and so far I haven’t been able to obtain it. This bugs me because I want to start using the OS more often and when i need to find a tutorial on how to do something, I can’t go to Youtube. No I will not deal the the HTML 5 beta because it is extremely buggy. Anyways, you will have to go through some more trouble downloading things when searching online.

ArtistX does run the Gnome desktop and is very nice and elegant. Like I said before, this runs fast! I have only experienced one time of bad performance and that was because I was installing updates.

I strongly recommend you download this if you are a hardcore graphics designer/music producer. This is free, and you won’t regret it.
