By being a California citizen, I am starting to get pretty mad. I’m not going to go into some of the other reasons why I’m mad about California, but this is one of them. The state of California says that energy-hogging TVs are not going to be sold starting in 2011. Now hold on a second. I know some of you are going to say “You can buy them on Ebay and Amazon” and “Buy them in a different state.” You’re right, you can. I’m just mad because California is starting to turn into an energy-saving state. I’m not trying to be biased because i still think saving energy is still important to many different causes. So if you’re planning to buy a 52 inch HDTV, you better do it quick.

If I’m not mistaken, they are only banning Plasma HDTVs. California also says that companies are starting to make Plasma energy star TVs. Those aren’t going to be as good quality as the regular Plasmas, but they will have better quality eventually due to how fast technology is improving.

Pros:

Saves energy
New Plasmas will be cheaper
You’re PG&E bill won’t be as high

Cons:

The only way to buy the TVs are out of state and online
Quality won’t be as good
