It has been a while since we’ve had a major design change with the site. Because of certain someone, we started to think a little more about the background.
Recently, I’ve converted all of the shadow images (you know, that black border around the site) to a transparent image. What’s this do for you? It makes it possible for us to use any background we may set our eyes upon.
We started looking at a variety of different textures we could use. When we started looking for this, we were really picking textures that didn’t match the design of the site. When I originally created the design, all of the colors, the images, and everything on the site is in relation to each other in some way.
And now let’s side track a bit. When I was creating the design, I wanted to use very minimal colors. There are sites out there, that use random colors and are only used once. I can name at least ten sites like that; I’m sure, however, you’ve seen sites where the have “connect to us” options with different colored buttons. Does that blend in to the design, most likely no.
But the thing is, why I mentioned that, is because I want to have the design to stay like it is now, which is using the very minimalist colors. Tech Cores was my very first major website that I designed from the ground up. Because I do know of several techniques to “trick” the human eye, I was able to get away with this. I haven’t met or talked to anyone who dislikes the design.
So I started to think about all of this; what background should we use with keeping all the design and color aspects of the site in place. As of right now, Tech Cores uses a total of twenty main colors (http://techcores.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/384a0bb7d068244d1936e6799494a2c2.png). Now in the header and few other places, we do use gradients, but all of those are based upon these colors.
I wanted uniqueness with the design of Tech Cores. Web2.0 is a term we web-developers use that basically means sites that have lots of cool graphical effects. There is another term for it, but that’s totally different (information sharing). I started thinking what we could that that’s “cool” in design. I thought to my self that a lot of sites use that diagonal line look to it. I took that look, and put it on steroids basically. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, look at the header. Tech Cores is the only site in the world that uses the diagonal lines to run off the border. And we pulled it off.
Simply, that’s what we did. We made the background diagonal lines still based on the main colors in the site.
So tell us, what do you think of the new background? I know I blabbered on with this post, but I really had to give some basis on the original design. Maybe someday, I’ll publish a blog post that revels the original design of that site. That would be interesting to show off.
I take that back... it's more like me saying "NPS is the only program in the world that has a Posterize filter". And your comment system is "broken" again in terms of the line break vs. paragraph break distinction. It's still treating a paragraph break I put in as a line break. LikeTech Cores isn't the only site using diagonal lines in their header, lol. That's like me saying that NPS is the only program in the world that allows you to write your own filters for it. I do like the new background though... especially the fact that it's fixed.

LikeYou're kidding me, right? It stripped out my manually-entered HTML tags such as < p > and < b r / >? I think you need a major rewrite of this thing :P

LikeHTML or BBCode is not allowed. Mainly because I do not want to see any images other than emoticons.
The comment system is going to have to stay how it is. You're the only one complaining about it...

LikeThat comment formatted correctly. Use the WYSIWYG, don't try to type in any HTML.

LikeApparentlyu00c2u00a0someone didn't read it all. We're the only one to useu00c2u00a0diagonalu00c2u00a0lines in the shadowing which is in the header/footer. We're unique. ;)
