After many rumors about a BlackBerry tablet coming this year, they came to life with the PlayBook. The PlayBook is obviously trying to compete with the iPad and it has some features that the iPad doesn’t have.

For example, the PlayBook has way way better internals such as a dual core 1GHz processor,  1GB of RAM, dual cameras (3 megapixel on the front and 5 megapixel camera on the back, which is capable of 1080p video recording). The PlayBook is also capable of playing 1080p videos and comes with an HDMI port. Here are some more detailed specs on the PlayBook:

On the software side, it seems like it’s a mockup of webOS’ multitasking system and the BlackBerry OS 6. RIM did meantion that the PlayBook will support Adobe Flash 10.1, Adobe Air, Adobe Reader, POSIX, Open GL, and Java.

Overall, I do like the PlayBook. It has some features that the iPad needs and it’s really great for enterprises. There’s no word on pricing and release date yet.
