The Macally METROLPAD is a clean, durable, and well thought out case! In most areas it will keep your iPad in great shape for either the cases, or your iPad’s life. When you first open the package, you are greeted with that familiar “paper iPad”, inside of the actual METROLPAD. Once you remove the iPad you are able to then place your iPad in the case. Now, warning when you put the iPad in the case for the first time it is going to go in extremely hard, DO NOT FORCE IT. Just take your time and let the hard plastic get used to your iPad. After the first time the iPad will go in and out fairly easy. With that said I think it is important to note that if you want a case that you can just take off simply and without having to put some elbow grease into taking it off, this is not the case for you. If you are going to put in on, and leave it on, I would recommend this case to you.

The case has a very simplistic design, nothing too flashy. This is a good thing and, unfortunately, a bad thing. Thought you know it is going to stay on, the small bulk that the case adds might prevent you from connecting it to docks and other accessories without taking the case off. Simplicity can also be a good thing to see on a case too. With such a simple design it matches the iPad’s very modern design and actually flaunts it with the matte transparent back cover.
On the note of the back cover, most cases have large logos that stick out and take away from the case. Macally, does include their logo on this case, but it is nicely placed and colored so it almost looks like it belongs on the device itself. Also, there are four little feet like half circles on the back of the case making sure that the case, which protecting your iPad from scratches, doesn’t get scratched.
The side and the top lip of the case is made of a semi-hard plastic that keeps your iPad in the case as well as provides access the the various external features. For the volume rockers and the sleep/wake buttons there is a “bottom cover” that is built into the case for both of them and then there are cut outs for the headphone jack, speakers, and 30 pin connector. This side, when looking at it from the front looks like it is almost part of the iPad and blends in extremely nicely, as well as keeps firm hold on the iPad.
Overall, this case accents your iPad very nicely and if you don’t plan on changing your case a lot then this is the case for you. Also, I think it is a necessity to have a screen protector included with a case like this, it’s not the best idea to have a large panel of glass out in the open without some form of protection!

Well I was impressed with the MaCally iPad case, however I wanted to see what other iPad cases were out there so I headed to Amazon and Overstock. I did find a impressive assortment of other brands like Otterbox, Incase, Mivizu, Belkin, Speck. I even found some real trendy brands like Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, and Donna Karan and even Issey Miyake. While the assortment is deep and wide, I was still looking for a clean, sophisticated design with an elegant appeal to simplism. After review all the brands, I settled for Mivizu. The have great customer reviews, the product has well design and meaningful layout that serves it’s us and purpose. I found an iPad case that delivered on all my requirements, including delivering a great value against some of the other competing brands. The case was a little too much for me. I do like, but I instead choose something a little more minimalist with clean contours and outlines. The biggest drawback with the MaCally case is price itself. Mivizu has an equally shell with EPI technology for half the price.http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Mivizu-Apple-iPad-Eclipse-EPI-Dark-Side-of-the-Moon-Black-Case/5545646/product.html

LikeGood Point. But the thinness could be it';s selling point. They have a similar design for their iPhone 4. Maybe it has an appeal to those that want a simple layout.

LikeUpon looking at the Mivizu case, it looks extremely thin, which in some cases is good (form factor and limited bulk) but provides nothing in the area of protection and that is why I gave such good reviews of this case. Yes it does add a little bulk, but in the long run I would rather have my iPad in one piece and deal with the limited bulk. Of course I have never actually seen, nor used one of those cases so I am drawing my conclusion strictly on the pictures.
