Ralph de la Vega came up stage today and unveiled some magic. He announced that 4G will be coming mid-2011, but what’s really exciting are the phones that will take advantage of the 4G service. Buckle your seat belts and be ready to be blown away!
Samsung Infuse 4G
The Samsung Infuse 4G is one of AT&T’s slimmest 4G phones, measuring at 9 millimeters. This phone features Samsung’s new Super AMOLED Plus technology, which has 50 percent boost in sub-pixel count, which improves contrast and outdoor readability. Oh, and this phone has a whopping 4.5 inch screen, 1.2 GHz Humming Bird CPU, 8 megapixel camera and a front 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat. Of course, this will run Android 2.2 with Samsung’s TouchWhiz UI, which is a love or hate thing.
HTC Inspire 4G
Remember this phone? If you do, you’ll be quite ecstatic right now because it’s official! This phone reminds me of the HTC Desire HD, which is only in the UK. It has a 4.3 inch screen, possibly has the same CPU and the amount of RAM. What’s different from the Desire HD is obviously, it has a 4G radio for AT&T.
On the software side, the Inspire 4G might run Android 2.3 and HTC Sense. Just to give you a refresher, the new HTC Sense has quick boot, which is essentially hibernate, more customization options, and supports HTC’s online services such as Remote Wipe.
Motorola Atrix
I’ve saved the best phone for last and it’s the Motorola Atrix. The Motorola Atrix isn’t just an ordinary phone, it’s a super phone. What I mean by that is that this phone has a dual-core CPU, a whopping 1GB of RAM, a 4.3 inch display, and to power all of that amazing power, Motorola shoehorned a massive 1930 mAh battery. This is certainly the most powerful phone that I’ve seen to date.
What’s interesting is that Motorola made a laptop dock. You heard me, a laptop dock! The way how it works is that the Atrix docks into behind the monitor. With that, you now have a net book like form factor with a keyboard, 2 USB ports, and a 10-inch screen for web browsing.
