From a general-user stand point, if your printer is not an HP, or doesn’t support ePrint, Apple’s AirPrint means absolutely nothing to you, other than express the need to buy a fancy new HP printer. Well this isn’t the first time, and most likely won’t be the last, time I say this, but Google has come to the rescue, in the form of the Google Cloud Print launch. This allows you to hook up your printer to your Google account and print from any of Google’s mobile applications (ie. GMail, Google Docs, etc.). But this feature goes beyond the current capability of AirPrint; it allows for you to print a document, attachment, etc. to any print you have tethered to a computer. So whether you are at home and you need to print that really important document you know you are going to forget, why not just print it with your office printer and just pick it up when you get there, or maybe you just forgot to print a document, and you have already left for work. You can just simply have it print, and it will be sitting there for you when you get there.
As of right now this feature is only included in the Windows version of Google Chrome. It can be set-up and managed through the Wrench Icon>Options>Under the Hood and all the way at the bottom you can sign into Google Cloud Print. I have tested this, and it worked flawlessly. Of course, the printer you are sending the document to must be connected to a Windows (Mac and Linux version coming soon) computer running the latest version of Google Chrome.
