Google’s latest exclusive ‘Android-Only’ app has been released on the market and it goes by the name ‘Androidify.’ The concept of this app is simple, the UI of the app is clean, and the end result of the app is fun. Even though features are limited, you can still have a great time trying to create something that looks you, your friends, celebrities, etc.  Basically, the app allows you to customize ‘Andy the Android’ into anything your heart desires. You can clothe him, give him hair, and even turn he into she.

But did Google do this for strictly show and tell purposes or are there ulterior motives yet to be disclosed? As we all know, Windows Phone 7′s Xbox Live and iPhone’s Game Center features were possible key selling points to thousands, if not millions, of people. Android has been left in the dust when it comes to gaming. Let’s face it, it’s not a gaming device yet. With Xbox Live on your Windows Phone device you can check out your avatar and all of your Xbox Live stats and info straight from your phone.

Is this where Android is headed? Maybe not necessarily for gaming but for Android in general. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be prompted on first boot to create your own Android, Andy, AndMe, MeDroid, iD(Get it? Like Andy but iD! Okay, Yes, i’m kidding..), or whatever you want to call it and it will be used as your default avatar for anything you do on your phone. Now that almost every website is integrated with Twitter and Facebook, they’ll start to include a ‘Log In with Android’ button and when you click it your computer will shout ‘Droid’; Then your ‘Andy’ will be used on forums or comment boards as your avatar. Maybe your refrigerators will be integrated with Android and the refrigerator will be doorless. It’ll include a giant LCD panel with little ‘Andys’ of your entire family and when you click on your specific ‘Andy’ the food that’s a part of your diet will slide out. There are all just ideas but the possibilities are endless or maybe we’re just over thinking this and this is just an app used to kill time. Only time will tell but I think it’s time Android headed this direction.
