Rumors suggest that Apple is planning to discontinue the Magic Mouse, so they can push users to use Lion’s gestures. According to Mac Rumors’ sources, Apple will not re-stock the Magic Mouse in their retail stores, which hints that they want to phase out the Magic Mouse.

We’ve gotten word from a previously reliable source that Apple is discontinuing the Magic Mouse in favor of the Magic Trackpad. Our retail source has informed us that Magic Mouse inventory is not being replenished for Apple stores, and that Apple is finally phasing out the Magic Mouse.

This rumor is hard to believe because most users prefer a mouse, instead of a trackpad. Users can download third-party applications that will take advantage of custom gestures and much more. Fortunately, Apple currently isn’t forcing users to take advantage of the Magic Trackpad. Users have a choice between a Magic Mouse or a Trackpad when you purchase a Desktop.
